Signs A Pickup Artist Is Filming You For Infield Footage
A woman took to Reddit recently, having been approached 11 times in one day by spam approach day gamers in Warsaw, Poland. This has raised concerns about the possibility of women being filmed for infield footage by pickup artists without their knowledge.
Having pointed out, in the madness of Reddit, that Warsaw just so happened to have been voted the #1 city in the world for meeting women in 2025, the pitchforks started pointing at me. Within hours, I quickly received abuse and death threats, going so far to even threaten to chop me up with machetes just because I was spreading awareness about the popularity of the city for day gamers.
Yep. Reddit is a cesspool of dramatic angry weirdos. But you don’t need me to tell you that.
Despite this, I still made efforts to address genuine concerns people had about the possibility of being filmed in public.
(Un)Surprisingly, the angry Reddit mob downvoted everything I wrote about what to look out for. Such logical creatures…
What Is Infield Footage?
The term ‘infield’ means ‘in the field’. If you search for ‘PUA infield’ on YouTube, you will find countless videos from dating coaches where they attempt to demonstrate authentic interactions to viewers, by approaching women in the street or a park during the day (Day game) or in a nightclub or nightlife area (Night game).
The camera will often capture the interaction between a dating coach or pickup artist from a distance, and audio will be picked up from a microphone attached to the man talking to women.
The general intention behind infield footage is to teach men how to socialize with women. But as innocent as the intentions may originally seem, the pickup industry has shifted into a strange direction where infield footage, depending on the coach, has become a penis-measuring contest. In recent years, infield footage has been used by some for marketing, for ego-boost, for discrediting dating coaches who do not have infield footage of their own, and for trying to qualify themselves as a worthy coach.
Several pickup ‘coaches’ in the past have even faked their own infield footage. Ways infield footage can be faked includes:
- Hiring women as actors to make students feel like they are making progress
- Hiring prostitutes to make the audience and students believe there was success
- Cherry-picking infield content; only uploading the stuff that makes the coach look good
This is only the tip of the iceberg. We still haven’t even addressed privacy concerns, ethics or the law yet.
Ethical Concerns Of Infield Footage
Even within the dating industry, several coaches, including pickup artists, have expressed concerns about the potentially unethical nature of infield.
It’s one thing to show men how to talk to women, but it’s another to show footage where a coach is trying to touch her, take her home and ‘show evidence’ of getting laid. I have personally noticed an increase in men emphasizing the importance of needing to see a ‘real result’ from anything a dating coach posts.
‘But did you get laid, bro?’
‘This doesn’t prove anything, she’s only a 6 anyways.’
‘You only got her phone number, bro, how do we know you actually took it anywhere?’
I have started to believe that there is a sense of peer pressure some pickup coaches are feeling, pushed onto them from a minority of pickup artists with terrible mindsets. I have also noticed that the same people who make these kinds of comments are the same people who have absolutely no self-awareness or calibration themselves… Narrow-mindedness.
If they met an attractive celebrity, they would try to hit on her and think they could take her home immediately, with no awareness that she’s literally in an interview on live TV at a movie premiere at that very moment.
As for privacy concerns and whether or not infield footage is legal… That’s something that depends on jurisdiction.
Recently, I released my own infield footage. But I only did this because it was filmed by the woman I interacted with, who happened to be a famous streamer with millions of followers. Thus, she was actually the one filming me!
How To Know If You’re Being Secretly Filmed For PUA Infield Footage
Below is a compilation of my original comments on Reddit, addressing how to identify that someone may be secretly filming you.
You can spot people trying to film you by looking for a microphone. Some pickup artists and rizz kids produce what’s called ‘infield footage’, and that’s all useless without audio. So their microphones will be around their chest area, and sometimes it will be obviously visible. Not all people doing this are professionals by any means, so the newer they are to it, the more obvious it would be.
There will also be someone nearby, standing around conspicuously, holding something in their hand. They won’t be circling or moving much, because that would make the visual footage worse. But this is to watch out for.
If you do experience this, ask if you’re being filmed. They have two choices… Lie or tell the truth.
Lie case: Their footage becomes unusable because they would just be exposing themselves as a liar to their audience.
Truth case: Say you do not consent to being filmed. They would then be breaking the law and exposing themselves to their audience if they use it anyway.
The most discreet, more experienced ones will do things like covering an expensive DSLR camera with a jacket to make it look like they are just holding a jacket. This is more for nightclubs though, but this is an extreme case because bouncers will likely know about this and prevent this from happening. But I have seen it myself in the past.
But in all practicality, watch out for microphones and conspicuous people hanging around at a slight distance. That’s when you know you’re being filmed. The infield they produce is useless if there’s no audio, so the person talking to you will have a microphone close to their chest.
Additional Context
I’m no pickup artist. But I sure have been misunderstood over the years and targeted by the media for my associations with the pickup artist community.
Here are the facts…
- I’m a married man, and I have been married since 2019.
- I have a daughter.
- I began taking over the pickup artist community in 2018-2019, believing that only someone competent could truly improve it. And who better than someone who actually has a wife and daughter?
- I actively discourage the spam approach form of day game.
- I have introduced many initiatives to the pickup artist community over the years that attempt to reform it.
- The Game Glossary, which lists various PUA terms as ‘toxic terminology’ that people should refrain from using, which are then replaced with more appropriate terminology.
- The Report page, where men and women can report suspicious activity from figures in the dating industry.
- Discouragement of pseudonyms and enforcement of legal names, particularly for collaborators and partners.
- Out of my own free will, I have requested multiple police forces around the world to investigate individuals who have harassed others in the community.
- An arrest was made in England in 2020, after a serial harasser with extreme levels of autism made hundreds of accounts just to spam men and women disgusting messages and videos. He was not a pickup artist, but merely a mentally disturbed person who would seek online communities.
- I have campaigned against toxic figures in the dating industry, including a litigious figure with an arrest record who notoriously threatened people, actively promoted hate and used his platform to spread misinformation.
- As a result, YouTube took down multiple YouTube channels run by a toxic figure in the pickup artist industry.
I welcome any reader, man or woman, to contact me in order to help push any initiatives or ideas to improve or detoxify the dating and relationship advice industry.
The vast majority of men in the pickup artist community are genuine guys who just want to learn how to improve their love life. It is a shame that a small minority ruin it for everyone else.
