Rollo Tomassi & The Red Pill

Rollo Tomassi & The Red Pill

In December 2022, I interviewed Rollo Tomassi. I asked him about the ‘red pill’ and the ‘black pill’, and how damaging these ideas or concepts can be.

Rollo Tomassi

Rollo Tomassi is a bestselling author. He is especially known for the series of books called The Rational Male, which is a ‘rational and pragmatic approach to intergender dynamics and the social and psychological underpinnings of intergender relations’.

Seems pretty simple, really. I guess.

The Red Pill Summary

I asked Rollo Tomassi for a quick summary of the ‘red pill’.

The idea behind ‘red pill’ and ‘blue pill’ comes as an analogy from the cult classic movie The Matrix. In The Matrix, taking the blue pill is when you wish to live in ignorance. Taking the red pill is when you are willing to learn the uncomfortable truth of reality.

Rollo Tomassi takes on the same concepts and applies them outside of Hollywood, in the real word.

(No, you’re not in The Matrix… Or are you?)

This is all written in his book The Rational Rale, which made it to number 4 in the Top 20 Seduction & Pickup Artist Books 2022 list.

Blackpill Vs Redpill

Red Pill

Rollo Tomassi describes the ‘red pill’ as a description and the ‘black pill’ as a prescription. He explains that the ‘red pill’ is all about ‘intersectional dynamics; understanding the evolutionary psychology, evolutionary biology, anthropology, sociology, psychology, politics and many other sub-fields’.

He continues to explain that the ‘red pill’ is ‘a praxeology of intersectional dynamics, understanding men’s nature and women’s nature’ and that it is ‘the study of human behavior, in that the human behavior has a purpose to it’.

Black Pill

Rollo Tomassi says that the ‘black pill’ is when people take the explanations of the ‘red pill’ and choose to do nothing to improve themselves, and just become nihilistic instead of seeing the ‘red pill’ as an opportunity to become constructive. He describes that people who follow the ‘black pill’ mentality are destructive and misunderstand what ‘being content’ means.

Rollo says that ‘the human condition is defined by discontent, and that is a feature, and not a bug, of human nature’ and that it’s good that you will never be content because that will lead you to stagnation. He suggests that people should use the opportunity to keep advancing in one’s life in order to level yourself up or progress your life, but when people deal with discontent destructively instead of creatively, they end up in ‘a pit of misery’.
