The Ultimate 7 Steps Guide to get Unbanned from Tinder

Yesterday, you were able to swipe to your heart’s content.

Today, no way to access your account anymore.

That’s a bummer, especially if you had a subscription going on.

But it goes deeper than that.

As of 2022, Tinder actively works on ways to prevent previously banned users from returning.

How long does Tinder keep your data when you’re banned?

If you read Tinder T&C closely you will find that they keep all of your personal data for 3 months.

And during those 3 months, any attempt to use Tinder with any of your previous data will result in an automatic ban.

Sucks, right?

3 months without Tinder, you might even start considering other online dating alternatives like Facebook Dating.

Luckily for you, I come with solutions so you can get back to using a proper dating app.

Picture of a hot girl you’re probably missing out on if your account is banned

Before we get into that, let’s make sure we’re on the same wavelength.

What is a Tinder Ban ?

A Tinder ban is when you cannot access your Tinder account at all anymore.

When you try to open the app, you will get an error message telling you that your account has been banned.

And you won’t be able to even check out if that cutie from yesterday replied to you.

I’ve been there a few times in the past and it feels like a sucker punch, ouch.

What is a Tinder shadowban?

A shadowban is a little bit more tricky than a ban.

If your account has been shadowbanned, every action that you do on the app will appear as normal on your end, but actually won’t be seen by most other Tinder users.

In practice, if you go from 5 matches a day to 2 or 3 per week, you’ve probably been shadowbanned.

Think your message has been sent to this cute girl? Nope.

It appears like it on your screen, but she will never receive it.

Think girls actually get to see your profile when they swipe? Nope.

You’re able to swipe on other Tinder users but they will never see your profile.

Officially, Tinder does not shadowban.

But officially, Tinder also does not put attractive profiles first.

While actually it’s the top 20% of guys that get all the girls on Tinder.

So you know you should take what’s “official” from Tinder with a grain of salt.

Now that we’re talking about the same thing, let’s solve your ban problem!

Step 1 – Completely Delete Tinder

You want to start by removing any trace of the previously banned account on your end.

  1. If you’ve been shadowbanned, open Tinder, go to Settings, scroll all the way down and “Delete Account”.
  2. Delete the app from your phone.

Boom, you’re done.

Tinder now has no more access to your phone.

Step 2 – Clear out your social media

Tinder users have the possibility to link their accounts with Facebook and Instagram.

And chances are that those are also connected to your phone and the rest of your data in one way or another.

To become a true Tinder ghost you want to remove those as well.

So let’s get rid of the Zuck by removing Facebook and IG.

  • Open Facebook
  • Go to Settings (as of 2022, it’s under the downward facing arrow on the top-right corner)
  • Check out the menu to the left, scroll down, click on “Apps and Websites”
  • Find Tinder and Instagram if you linked those accounts previously, click “Remove”

Step 3 – Get a new SIM card

This step will either be the easiest or the most annoying to you.

And to get unbanned from Tinder you absolutely need a fresh phone number.

Depending on where you live and the laws in place, you can own a various number of SIM cards at the same time.

I remember when I lived in Thailand I could get unlimited SIM cards for free.

While some of my friends living in the UK were having trouble just getting a new one.

Either way, it’s super important to get a new SIM card.

So go to your local phone store and ask them what’s the easiest way to get a new SIM card with a new phone number.

Don’t use one-off rented numbers online. Tinder WILL check and ask you to log in again with your phone number at some point every 3 to 6 weeks.

Most phones nowadays have 2 SIM slots, so you don’t need to get rid of your usual one.

And you don’t even need to top up that new SIM card.

Just slap that bad boy in your phone and make sure you can receive the Tinder confirmation texts.

Step 4 – Change your IP address

To have Tinder think you’re not connecting from the same place, you will have to change your IP address.

This is very easy to do.

Simply turn your wifi router off, wait 2 minutes, and turn it on again to get assigned a new IP address.

Or choose the healthy solution and go have a walk to your nearest public wifi hotspot and follow the rest of the guide from there.

Step 5 – Create a new Google account or Apple ID

As of 2022, it seems that Tinder also tracks the account that was used to download Tinder from the app store.

Yes, they go that far.

To make sure your new Tinder identity isn’t compromised you will have to create a new app store account.

And you will have to be logged into this account when downloading the app.

To create a new app store account :

  1. Simply open the app store
  2. Log out of your current account
  3. Select the create a new account option, go through the process
  4. Use that new account to log into the app store and download Tinder again

Step 6 – Modify your pictures

You’re almost there!

But don’t lower your guard just yet.

Actually, I recommend reading the next part before going ahead with the last steps.

Because a single mistake at this point could screw the entire process.

For instance, you don’t want to use the same photos and the exact same bio as you were using before.

But hey, there is a trick if you want to use the same photos.

You will have to modify the metadata.

You do this in 2 easy steps.

Opening properties

First, right click on your picture on your computer and click on properties.

Then go to details, and there you will find the metadata.

Finding picture metadata

Depending on your file, there may or may not be stuff written there.

What matters is that you make it look different.

So that Tinder robots don’t pick it up.

Once that’s done, you only have 2 things left to do to make your pictures look totally new to Tinder.

  1. Edit your pictures (right click, then click “Edit”) and add a single tiny black dot anywhere on the picture
  2. Change your pictures’ file name (right click, then click “Rename”)

Too complicated? Maybe it’s time to step up your game and just take new pictures!

Step 7 – Setup your NEW unbanned Tinder profile

If you followed the recipe so far, you’re almost done.

Here is all that you have left to do now :

  • Open your fresh Tinder app
  • Use the new phone number to register
  • Enter the new email address that you created for your new app store account
  • Set up your account with the modified pictures.

Boom!

You successfully figured how to get unbanned from Tinder.

But before doing anything else, I really recommend that you keep on reading.

It would be a shame to mess up all that setup right now.

Here’s a list of best practices to make sure you don’t get instantly re-banned.

The Terrible Mistakes to Avoid to Not Get Banned Again

There are 2 kinds of things that could get you banned again.

First, you want to make sure you don’t do anything that could link your new unbanned Tinder account to your previously banned Tinder account.

That means you don’t want to be using any kind of data that was previously stored on Tinder.

You then want to make sure you don’t ever show up under Tinder’s radar again.

Avoid Those to Stay Invisible

Here is a rundown of what you should never do if you don’t want Tinder to notice you’ve been previously banned.

  • Using the same phone number that was used with the banned account
  • Using the same email address that was used with the banned account
  • Using the same payment method that was used with the banned account
  • Using the face verification if you used that with the banned account
  • Using the exact same bio that you used with the banned account
  • Writing your social media handles in your bio if your previously banned account had them
  • Using the exact same and unmodified pictures you used with the banned account
  • Connecting through the same IP address you used with the banned account
  • Linking the IG and Spotify accounts you used to associate with the banned account

If you do this correctly, there is no way Tinder will ever be able to associate your banned Tinder account to your unbanned Tinder account.

Avoid Those to Not Get Banned in the Future

To avoid bans in the future, you want to make sure to…

Behave on the app.

I’m not your mom.

And I’m not your dad either.

But if you don’t behave you will get kicked out and banned from Tinder.

Again.

Do the smart thing and avoid the hassle of being banned from Tinder again, follow the advice below.

There are mainly 2 things that can get you banned from Tinder.

The first one is trying to screw Tinder, and the second one is being an asshole to other members.

All of the things you want to avoid doing are listed in the Terms of Use and Tinder’s Community Guidelines.

Here’s a list of what you can get banned for :

  • Creating a fake profile
  • Having multiple accounts
  • Being under 18 years old
  • Using offensive or inappropriate language
  • Acting homophobic
  • Using the app for promotional purposes
  • Harassing another user
  • Creating spam accounts
  • Posting nudity or sexual content
  • Using verbal or physical violence
  • Sharing confidential information
  • Making racist comments
  • Impersonating another person
  • Using the app for illegal activities

If you get reported by other members, or if the Tinder robots detect such behavior, you’re in for trouble.

And be careful with those.

Because if you get banned, you won’t get a refund if you purchased a subscription.

From what I’ve seen, most guys get banned because :

  • They create multiple/fake accounts and troll other users
  • They try shady tactics to avoid paying for Tinder
  • They get mad because the app isn’t working for them and start insulting girls
  • They copy and paste super sexual and uncalibrated stuff

Avoid those and you will be fine.

2 Myths and Mysteries about Tinder Bans DEBUNKED

I’ve noticed there is a lot of “broscience” going on.

Around Reddit, Discord and other group chats, people talk a lot about what they can and can’t do to get unbanned from Tinder.

In this part we’re gonna settle the score right and debunk a few Tinder ban myths.

Tinder tracks your IMEI

Nope.

Your IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique number for identifying a device on a mobile network.

If Tinder was banning an entire phone, it means that someone buying a secondhand phone would be at risk of not being able to use Tinder on that phone.

Anecdotal experiments have been made to confirm that and it’s safe to say Tinder does not track your phone’s IMEI.

Tinder uses advanced AI to recognize you on different pictures

This one is closer to a tinfoil hat conspiracy.

It would take incredible resources and technology to be able to 100% recognize someone through 2 different pictures.

To some degree, yes, it’s possible.

But anything that isn’t close to 100% accurate means so many people would get wrongfully banned from Tinder, and that’s bad for business.

In all honesty, I don’t think Tinder has a Chinese-government level of facial recognition AI.

Then again, some Tinder users ran their own experiments and it’s safe to say Tinder does not use advanced facial recognition to automatically ban people.

How to Get a Free Tinder boost

Not everyone knows about it, but there is a way to get a free Tinder boost.

In fact, this is the main reason why you get a lot of matches just after creating an account.

Every single time you effectively get unbanned from Tinder or create a new account, you will get a free Tinder boost.

What is the Tinder Free Boost?

New Tinder accounts always enjoy a free Tinder boost that lasts anything from 3 to 10 days, depending on where you live.

What this does is that it puts your profile among the first profiles every girl in your area will see when swiping.

This is all unofficial stuff, of course, but anyone can very easily verify that.

Pretty much everything on Tinder is designed to have you stay, get hooked, and end up spending money on the app.

Therefore it makes sense that new users would get a free boost, as it creates a “matches high”.

Effectively, it makes you feel good because you’re getting a lot of matches.

Then bad because you’re not getting as many once the boost ends.

Which pushes you to buy paid features to get more matches and feel good again.

Screenshot of the Tinder “It's a match” screen

As long as we get to meet girls out of it, it doesn’t really matter, does it?

You want to make the most out of this Tinder free boost.

Because the increase in visibility will compound the reach of your profile if it is well made.

In other terms :
Since Tinder shows you to other users based on how many users found you attractive before, you want to make sure to make your initial boost count with an efficient profile.

My favorite 3 Tinder Openers to Kickstart your Mojo Once Again

We saw how to get unbanned from Tinder and what happens directly after.

Now it’s time to make sure you come back on the app with a BANG and make the most out of your initial free Tinder boost.

I want to share with you my favorite, field-tested, Tinder openers that work in 2022.

Feel free to steal my lines (before everyone else does).

1 – “Why do you look so innocent but yet so wild”

Why do you look so innocent but yet so wild opener

Coming in hot, here’s my favorite Tinder opener of all times.

It is super open-ended, and at the same time super engaging.

It creates chaos, because every girl has a different interpretation and feelings about what it is for her to feel and be considered innocent and wild.

This opener also translates well in most languages and can be used in most cultures around the world.

It does all that in a single, low-effort sentence, which shows that you’re a high-value male who’s got no time for cheesy pickup lines.

And it can also easily branch into more “caliente” topics.

I give it a 10/10 Tinder Gangster™ rating.

2 – “How did you know I liked [girls like you]?”

How did you know I liked [girls like you]? opener

I like this one because it immediately flips the script and puts her as the pursuer trying to seduce me.

All of a sudden you’re not a random simp anymore, trying to show her why she should like you.

Just try it, it’s seriously effective.

I like to add some kind of low-key compliment part to it to give her a good reason to chase.

3 – “You didn’t have to use that cute dog to get me to swipe right”

You didn’t have to use that cute dog to get me to swipe right opener

I like this one because it flips the script as well.

And so many girls actually pose with their pets in their pictures.

It also makes it super easy to start talking about her dog

Or your dog

Or the dog you’ll get together on your first date.

Point being : everyone loves puppies, especially women.

And that makes it a super engaging and effective opener.

To conclude
